Terms of service

These terms govern your use of the Ease mobile app, its web app for designers and editors, and related services provided by A-lehdet Oy. They complement the privacy policy. Nothing in these terms limits your mandatory rights as a consumer.

1. About Ease

Ease is a service for discovering, reading and using knitting and crochet patterns from independent designers. You can browse and save patterns, read them on your device, track your projects, follow designers, and take part in discussions. During the preview period, features may be incomplete, change, or be removed.

2. Accepting these terms

• By creating an account or using Ease, you accept these terms.
• You must be at least 18 years old to use Ease.
• Your choices about analytics and marketing are separate from these terms. You can use Ease without allowing them.

3. Your account

• You sign in with Apple or Google, and you must follow their rules as well as these terms.
• You are responsible for keeping your devices and sign-in secure. Tell us without delay if you suspect someone else is using your account.
• You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile. See Delete your account.

4. Patterns and how you may use them

• Patterns belong to their designers or publishers, who are responsible for their content and accuracy. Questions about a pattern itself go to its designer.
• You may use a pattern you have access to for your own personal, non-commercial making. Whether you may sell items made from a pattern is up to its designer; check the pattern for their terms.
• You may not copy, share, sell or publish the patterns themselves, in whole or in part, or make them available to others outside Ease.
• Downloaded patterns remain available in the app only as long as you have access to them in Ease.

5. Memberships and purchases

Ease is free during the preview period. When memberships become available:

• You buy them through the App Store or Google Play, and that store's terms also apply to the purchase. The price and billing period are shown before you buy.
• A membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it. You cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Deleting your Ease account does not cancel a membership. Cancel it in the store as well.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
• A membership gives access to the patterns available to members while it is active. Which patterns are available may change as designers add or remove them.

6. What you publish

• You keep ownership of what you publish in Ease, such as comments and project photos.
• You give A-lehdet Oy a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute that content within Ease for as long as it is published there, and as long as needed afterwards for backups, moderation and legal obligations.
• If you delete your account, your comments stay visible, shown as written by "Deleted user".

7. Community rules

• Be kind. Do not post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, defamatory, misleading or infringing.
• Only publish photos you have the right to share.
• Do not impersonate others, collect other users' data, or interfere with how Ease works, for example by scraping or abusive automation.
• We may remove content and restrict or close accounts that break these terms or the law. Where the law requires, we tell you why and how you can challenge the decision. You can report content in the app.

8. Our rights in Ease

The Ease service, its software, design, trademarks and editorial content belong to A-lehdet Oy or its licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use Ease under these terms.

9. Availability and changes

• We aim to keep Ease available, but we cannot promise it will always work without interruption, especially during the preview period.
• We may change, suspend or end all or part of the service. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
• We will tell you in the app when these terms change. If you continue using Ease after a change, the new terms apply.

10. Liability

To the extent mandatory law allows, A-lehdet Oy is not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by interruptions or by third-party services outside our control. We are not responsible for the content of patterns, which is the responsibility of their designers. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Law and disputes

Finnish law applies to these terms. If we cannot settle a dispute with you directly, you can bring it to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi) or a competent court. As a consumer, you can also use the courts of your place of residence.
